Shan Amunugama (M.Teach, B.MusPerf)
We’re thrilled to formally announce the appointment of our new Musical Director, Shan Amunugama who took up the baton with SCB late November 2024.
Shan is no stranger to SCB, having been a dedicated member for the past six years. From performing in the solo cornet section to shining on flugel horn, Shan has been an integral part of our musical journey.
Beyond his impressive contributions to the band, Shan brings a wealth of experience as a professional teacher, coach, and mentor across both music and sport. He has taught instrumental brass and piano in schools across Melbourne’s western suburbs and currently provides private lessons in brass. With a Bachelor of Music Performance and a Master’s in Teaching, Shan combines expertise with a passion for helping individuals grow and succeed.
Shan’s deep understanding of our band’s strengths, dynamics, and diverse talents makes him the perfect leader as we embark on this exciting new chapter.
